When the console shells come out of the injection molder, workers break off the "sprue" revealing the finished product.
Here is some video of the cartridge tooling doing their thing. This tool produces two cartridges with a single "shot". The RETRO VGS cartridges will be made of high strength polycarbonate.
Here is a short video showing our initial test run of the console shell tooling. We ran translucent console shells for the testing. We are very happy to say the tools are still producing very high quality, polycarbonate parts even after nearly 30 years!
Here is a video showing the delivery of the Atari Jaguar tooling to its new home in Corona, CA. It's amazing these weren't lost to time and destroyed. They are all safe and sound ready to produce The RETRO VGS console and cartridges.
Documenting the arrival of the Atari Jaguar tooling to their new home. Now the future of the RETRO VGS!Posted by RETRO VGS on Thursday, February 26, 2015
In December 13, 2014 we traveled from Los Angeles up to San Carlos, CA to visit Imagin Systems Corporation. They purchased the Atari Jaguar tooling molds directly from Atari around 1998 and have been their caretakers ever since. We negotiated a deal with them to purchase the Atari Jaguar tooling and moved it all down to an injection molding company in Southern California. The RETRO VGS will utilize these molds to create the outer shells of both The RETRO VGS console and cartridges. This purchase is what made this venture possible as it saved us nearly $500,000 in start-up costs.

It has been very important to us to document the entire process of bringing The RETRO VGS to market. We will continue to add videos to this page showing various aspects of this project. Enjoy!
